Inspired by a grand tree on the property, the central fireplace anchors the design while the sheltering timber frame boldly reaches out, creating a unique and beautiful structure.

Project Description:
With spectacular views to the valley below and mountains beyond, an open central living space and its connections to the outdoors were of paramount importance. Abundant stone from the site is utilized in the landscape design for retaining and seating walls defining outdoor entertaining areas, all easily accessible from the home and the outdoor kitchen. The hand crafted timber frame was supplied and erected by Vermont Timber Works. The warmth and beauty of the timber frame contrast and compliment the solidity of the central masonry fireplace.

“I was helping a neighbor last season and we got to talking...he told me that his grandfather, the original owner of our land when it was a 1,200 acre working farm, told him that we built our new home right on the ‘night pasture’...his cows loved that pasture and spent overnights there so we called our farm... "Night Pasture Farm".
