Ed & Jane own a three-acre parcel on Squam Lake in Center Harbor, NH featuring 320 feet of lake frontage. Best known from the Academy Award Winning film, “On Golden Pond,” Squam Lake is still considered one of the most pristine lakes in New England, drawing visitors from all over the country. While the islands on the lake and surrounding mountain views are part of its unique landscape, the coves are quiet and a perfect haven for nesting loons which are abundant in the area.
Two vacation lakefront homes are located on their property. Bonin Architects will design a major renovation for the guest chalet which will include a timber frame addition as part of the design process.
The chalet is structurally sound and in good condition. With an amazing water view, it will be renovated for sustainability and to maximize the common living areas. The new timber frame addition will be used for additional bedrooms and recreational uses. Permits are already in place for the septic design.
We met Ed & Jane at the end of last year when we had the opportunity to visit their lakefront homes and discuss their project. We are now in the schematic phase of the home design for their new timber frame hybrid home and are looking forward to working with their family, as each member will play an integral part in all of the phases of the design process.
