WINNER: 2011 American Institute of Architects, New Hampshire – Merit Award

With material reuse and minimal site impact as two principal goals, this award-winning cottage renovation reused, recycled and refinished as many original materials as possible.

Project Description:
This Pleasant Lake cabin was originally one of eleven on “The Point”, removal of the cabin closest to the shore allowed for a meandering path from the renovated cottage, to beach and dock, as well as enhancing the stunning lake view.
The newly exposed ceiling is warm and inviting as are the reused and repositioned windows and doors for capturing lakeside views and breezes. Salvaged or refinished from the cottage were framing lumber, T&G boards and floors, windows, doors and a few period keepsakes. New finishes and materials are low or no VOC products and even the woodstove is a “found” item with a new home in the cottage.
