Addition to Post and Beam Home
|
Perry and Kat's growing family requires extra living space with the birth of their new baby, and these talented musicians also desire additional room to practice and record their music.
Their existing home, a post and beam house with a lot of character, warmth and charm, has an open layout, yet is not quite large enough. We are in the process of designing a post and beam addition which will blend in with their existing exterior aesthetics seamlessly, while adding bedrooms and providing an additional eight hundred square feet of new living space.
The preliminary design for the home addition includes a music studio that can also function as a guest bedroom for visiting friends and family. The office and music room are connected by a double door, which can be closed for privacy. Two additional bedrooms on the second floor will accommodate their growing family – and will keep all of the bedrooms on the same level of the home.
The home design utilizes as much of the existing systems and features of the post and beam house as possible. The second floor loft, which is currently used as a nursery, will become a multi-purpose room for sewing, art projects, and reading.
The home design will evolve through a series of communications with our clients. We’ll post revisions and updates as they are available. Click on the post and beam floor plans for larger images.
