THE CLIENT'S STRONG SENTIMENTAL TIES to this lakefront property guided the renovation and landscape design to evoke childhood summer vacations. With this vision in mind, we transformed a neglected property into a relaxing and comfortable lakefront home.

The goal was to preserve the cottage aesthetic while maintaining the integrity and history of both site and home. The main floor was altered and expanded to provide views to the lake that were substantially lacking in the original home. Relocating the screen porch increased living space and provided panoramic lakefront views. Repositioning the entry and porch greatly improved site circulation and grants a welcoming view of the dining room and fireplace upon entering the house.

WITH SUSTAINABILITY AND MINIMAL SITE IMPACT as two principal goals, this award-winning lakefront renovation reused, recycled and refinished as many materials as possible.
This Pleasant Lake cabin was originally one of eleven on “The Point.” Removal of the cabin closest to the shore allowed for a meandering path from the renovated cottage to the beach and dock as well as enhancing the stunning lake view. The newly exposed ceiling as well as reused and relocated windows and doors increase light and comfort in the space as they capture lakeside views and breezes. Other salvaged or refinished features along with the windows and doors include framing lumber, T & G boards and floors and period keepsakes.

THIS VACATION HOME with its proximity to skiing, and fantastic property for year-round outdoor activities, is perfect for this young and active family. The casual warmth and comfort of the reclaimed wood floors and timbers, field stone fireplace, light warm colors, clean details and open spaces all contribute to the transformation of this home; bringing a brighter and more casual setting while addressing flow and functionality when the home fills with family and friends!

Interior renovations consisted of, enlarged spaces for extended family and holiday gatherings, guest suites, new and renovated bathrooms, a new kitchen, pantry, and mudroom. Also, many updates to the home systems such as heat, electrical, and insulation were addressed during this major renovation.
